AASHE 2012: Investing in the Future will be held October 14-17 in Los Angeles, home to more than one million college students. This year’s conference features a new advanced session track, local campus tours, curriculum and STARS workshops, and presentations by L. Hunter Lovins, Billy Parish, Tony Cortese and the Crossroads Project.

Hotel Discounts End September 22
Register for AASHE 2012 to receive your discounted access to reservations at our host hotels. The Westin Bonaventure in downtown Los Angeles is AASHE's general attendee hotel, with $177 pre tax rates. Students receive $99 pre-tax reservations at the student hotel. In her "Innovation in Higher Education: Leading the Change" keynote, Natural Capitalism Solutions President and Founder L. Hunter Lovins will outline ways that higher education institutions can take a lead role in creating the next generation of thought leaders.

CURC Webinar: Handling Food Waste in Dining Halls, Events
Hosted by the College & University Recycling Coalition (CURC) with support from AASHE, this
September 13 webinar will take a detailed look at the challenges and solutions specific to campus composting. Participants will hear from industry and collegiate experts about the technologies and systems being used in successful dining hall composting programs, and learn about the challenges and solutions specific to special event composting programs.

Are you ready for the 10th Annual Campus Sustainability Day? October 24 is coming up fast. Here are a few ways you can participate:
·         Add your campus celebration to the Campus Sustainability Day Website
·         Join campus sustainability thought leaders in a live, interactive panel as they discuss best practices and challenges for preparing students for a changing climate
·         Participate in a regional conversation on the same topic (Note: AASHE is hosting the Western regional conversation)
USGBC Greenbuild 2012 International Conference & Expo
AASHE is a sector partner for the U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC)
Greenbuild 2012 International Conference and Expo. This year's event, taking place Nov. 14-16, 2012 in San Francisco, will feature three days of speakers, networking opportunities, industry showcases, LEED workshops and tours of the host city's green buildings. USGBC Center for Green Schools and AASHE will present the Innovation in Green Building Award, recognizing a leading college or university that is transforming the built environment and creating living laboratories for sustainability.
AASHE Member Bioneers Conference Discount
As part of an alliance between AASHE and Bioneers’ Education for Action Program, groups of 6-10 AASHE-associated educators, students or allies will receive a

AASHE Education for Sustainability Survey September 2012

 

AASHE is expanding its professional development offerings for higher education faculty and staff. As a newsletter subscriber and a recent AASHE conference attendee, your input will be highly valuable to our work of building new workshops, retreats and online resources.
This survey will not only help us understand how faculty, leadership and sustainability staff are involved in providing education for sustainability, it will also help us design the best professional development to support your efforts.
