Extension Office, and more! AASHE Host Hotel information is now available! Students will

registering.

Accepting Applications: AASHE 2012 Awards
Program
AASHE invites applications for its
2012 sustainability awards. AASHE will present four Campus
Sustainability Case Study Awards, one Student Sustainability Leadership Award,
two Student Research on Campus Sustainability Awards and one Faculty Leadership
Award. All winners will be announced at the AASHE 2012 conference and will be
featured in Sustainability: The Journal of Record. Applications will
be accepted through July 2.

New and Improved AASHE Brand: Where we were,
where we’re going, and what this means for STARS Institutions
AASHE has been working on its branding and will soon unveil new AASHE and STARS logos. We’ve taken a very close look at how our organization functions, the purpose it serves, and the best way to communicate who we are with the higher education community and beyond. This
webinar will share the details of the branding process, from
concept to implementation, as well as how the new brand will affect STARS
Institutions. The webinar will take place 2 p.m. Eastern, May 29. RSVP for this event.
Academic Impressions Webinar: Creating a
Bike-Friendly Campus Culture
Best for those institutions that are still in the foundational stages of developing a campus-wide alternative transportation strategy, this
Academic Impressions webinar will take a step-by-step approach
to creating a bike-friendly culture on any campus using Duke University (NC) as
an example. Supported by AASHE, this event will start with basic initiatives
including bike racks, bike storage rooms and bike maps, and move into deeper
investments like developing effective town/gown relationships. The webinar will
take place 1 p.m. Eastern, June 6.

and Maintain an Eco-Rep Program”
AASHE was pleased to co-host this informative webinar with National Wildlife Federation on April 18. A
recording of the webinar is now available, as well as a written transcript. The webinar
celebrated AASHE’s and NWF's joint publication, “Student Sustainability Educators: A Guide to Creating and
Maintaining an Eco-Rep Program on Your Campus,” by Dr. Christina Erickson,
Sustainability Director at Champlain College.

in their roles as educators, curriculum designers and mentors. Through a highly
collaborative process participants from multiple disciplines will bridge the
breadth and complexity of sustainability with learning goals and pedagogical

Campus Sustainability Professionals Retreat,

professional development and support for staff managing institutional
transformation for sustainability in higher education. Attendees will build

ideas to contribute to the development of the field. The event will provide
